Creating your first Membership
As soon as you’ve finished installing and activating MemberDash you will be presented with a Get Started button. Click that to get started setting up your very first Membership.
If you’ve already navigated away from that page, don’t worry – on the left-hand side of your WordPress Dashboard, hover your mouse over MemberDash and click on Set Up.
There are four different types of Memberships that you can create:
- Standard Membership
- This allows you to make content that is available to Members, and hidden to site visitors or site users without a Membership
- Dripped Content Membership
- Set up Membership content to be released / made available in intervals
- Guest Membership
- Make content available only to guests (logged-out users)
- Default Membership
- Make content available to all logged-in users that have not yet registered for a Membership
Create a Membership
- Select a Membership type
- Name the Membership*
- Check the box Allow users to register for this membership if you wish to allow anyone to register
- Check the box This is a paid membership if you wish to charge for the Membership
If you choose to make this a Paid Membership, you will then be automatically taken to the Payment screen.
You’ll need to check the “Use WooCommerce to sell this membership” checkbox. Once you’ve done this, all payment information on the page will disappear. This is because it will now be handled in Woocommerce > Products.
Click “Finish”.
Create a Product
Start by giving your product a name and a description. You’ll want to choose from “Simple Product” or “Simple Subscription”.
Note: A Simple Subscription will require WooCommerce Subscriptions to be installed and activated.
Enter the product information, including price and subscription period (eg. weekly, monthly, etc.). Then, in the “MemberDash” section, select the membership you created. Click to Publish the product.
Editing a Membership
You have the ability to edit your memberships.
Navigate to MemberDash > Memberships, and click on “Payment Settings”.
If this is the first time you are associating a product to the membership, the product will be automatically added to the WooCommerce Product field.
That’s all there is to it! Now, when a user visits the Membership List page and clicks “Sign up” for the membership, they will be directed to the WooCommerce product page for checkout.
